Would you like to meet the wonderful ladies behind the quilts? They are what we refer to as "Quilting Angels". Each quilt is graphically enhanced with so much of their love and joy, that they remind me of angels. Their dedication goes beyond the quilts, to the children themselves. These ladies visit the children's sites and get to know the children and their families. They visit guestbooks, make special gifts and anxiously await the next child they can meet and make a quilt for.
Each Quilting Angel is a remarkable woman that I am so proud to work with and be friends with. Please come and visit with them. you may visit their sites by clicking on their names.

Mercyfaith Founder of Smile Quilts June 2001

I am a 30 yr. old mother of four and blessed with a wonderful husband. I have been online for a year and a half and have loved every minute of it. I have always wanted to do volunteer work, but with two small children at home, this was impossible. Smile Quilts has given me the ability to do just that, help others. After visiting a site which sent cards and gifts to sick children, I thought it would be a wonderful and unique idea to make the virtual, friendship quilts for these same children. So Smile Quilts began and has grown so much since then. I have met the most wonderful, caring people through this site and have also met some amazing children and families. A few of the parents have even become very good friends of mine.

Besides Smile Quilts, I also enjoy making graphics, reading, camping, the mountains, cooking, and being with my family. My children are 2, 3 , 7, and 12. I also have a 13 yr. old step-daughter. I am married to a wonderful husband who happens to be a wonderful father also. I came from two great parents who taught me values and standards of life which have made me the person I am today. They taught me love, not hate.

Each of the "angels" who works on this site is a truly, outstanding person. We come from all walks of life and all over the globe, but we have united in one goal, to put a smile on a child's face!

SpriteWebmaster and quilter

I am known online as Sprite, my real name is Ruth. I am 64 years old, have 2 grown children, a boy and a girl. I'm a grandma 11 times and a great grandma 5 times. I have been married 37 years.

I have a thyroid condition, asthma and suffer from depression and sleep disorder. In 2000 my husband just went through radiation treatments for prostate cancer. He was 80 July 15, 2002, and cancer free at the present.

I have been a newspaper reporter, deli manager, billing clerk and have had many other short term in between jobs. I do web mastering for a few friends and a couple of businesses. I was also the founder and Director of Western Colorado Camp Courage for 7 years, and had been on the committee for Crafts 3 years prior for Western Colorado Camp Quality. Both of these camps were for children with cancer and other life threatening illnesses.

We live in the beautiful mountains on the western slope of Colorado, on the South East slope of Grand Mesa the world's largest flat topped mountain. Excellent big game hunting can be found here and many Gold Medal Trout fishing areas.

I was at one time an avid cross country skier, hunter and fisherman, but as we are getting older the activities have slowed down and we enjoy day trips and sightseeing.

My indoor hobbies are counted cross stitching, and my computer. For pets, we have four kitties, and in 2004, have a year old dog "Buddy".

After having done my first Smile Quilt in June of 2001, I knew this is a wonderful project and something I wished to be a part of from its beginning. I really enjoyed doing my first quilt, and have been hooked ever since. These little ones seem to be the ones that get to your heart the quickest. After having woked with little ones who have cancer I knew how much they and their parents appreciate a little something extra. Just knowing that out there, there are people that do care. The parents are so wonderful with these children, and are so very appreciative of all those who may bring a smile and some warmth their way. It is a good feeling to know you have helped in some small way to put a smile on a child's/family's face.

Angel Chris Quilting Angel.

Hello. I'm a 36 year old Mom to 3 kids - Debbie, Rachel and Ronnie a/k/a Gooch.

Been married 15 long years to Ron, hence the nickname for little Ronnie, it was just too confusing having 2 Rons in the house.

Gooch was diagnosed with leukemia when he was 3 ½.

I became aware of Smile Quilts’ great work when his quilt was made. I know firsthand how much he and many other great kids I know with cancer LOVE their quilts and appreciate all the hard work that goes into them. Actually, I guess its not hard work, since the Quilters love what they are doing!

I wanted to join in and help this great bunch of gals, but don’t know PSP (yet) So for now I just make the rounds signing the guestbooks and trying to pass on a little encouragement to the kids, and news on how the kids are doing back to the other Quilters. P.S. Now also doing quilts.

Angel Gloria Quilting Angel and is writing poetry for the Smile Quilts she does.
I'm Gloria from Owings Mills, Maryland. I am 36 years old, married to my dear husband, John for seven years and although we have no children, I am Mommie to a 2 year old Yorkshire Terrier named Zack. (He' my furbaby)

I have my own business out of my home in the graphic field. For fun I do enjoy creating fashion dolls and sell them at doll shows from time to time. I also enjoy photography, reading, ethnic cooking and I am admittedly addicted to watching All My Children and Young and the Restless. (laughing)

My reason for wanting to do quilt squares for these wonderful little people is that I can utilize something I really enjoy (graphic design) and still bring a smile to a child's day. I have been blessed with good health and want to give what I can as a way of being thankful for that blessing.

Thank you Sprite for the opportunity.

With a wink and a smile,
Gloria

Angel FairyGodmother Quilting Angel (on leave due to loss of mother)

Hi there! I am known online as FairyGodmother, but my real name is Becky. I am a 48 year old single mom. I have one child, a daughter (Amber) who will soon be graduating from college and beginning her career as a high school Math teacher. I live in South Carolina and work for the state government.

I have many interests! When I am not on the computer creating graphics I enjoy reading, cooking, gardening, all types of arts and crafts, and music (I play my piano as often as I can!) to name just a few. I love animals and have five sweet little pets. I have three cats and two dogs. (Cats: Leroy, Scarlet, Isabel ~ Dogs: Bambi and Sylvie) Every one of these little creatures except Bambi "found" me! They all came to me under unfortunate circumstances, one by one, and now what a precious little family of pets I have. They give much more than they ever ask for and I am so thankful they found me.

I am very close to my family. These past few years have been difficult as my parent's have started to age and have health problems. I came very close to losing my Mother to cancer three years ago and I treasure every minute I can spend with her.

I have a heart for children and I hope that my work with the quilts will bring smiles to some tiny faces and little bubbly giggles from within. God blessed me with a healthy child and I have never taken that for granted. My heart goes out to any parent going through a time of illness with their children.

Please know that as I begin my journey of making the smile quilts, I will add each one of you to my daily prayer list and always keep you close in thought and prayer.

*big hugs*
FairyGodmother (Becky)

Am married to a lovely man, have four gorgeous kids and a sweet daughter in law. Showing dogs is my passion, mainly collie roughs (Lassie) and alaskan malamutes. I also breed burmese cats and scottish folds. Reading a book, walking and playing with my children are other things you will find me doing.

Many years ago I was a social worker with the Salvation Army in Victoria. Since I left I have looked for something to fill a special place in my heart. Looks like I have found it.

I have a nine year old daughter who is an up and coming graphic artist :o) she often does work that amazes me. She also wants to add squares for the children.

Warmest hugs

Angel Annie
Hello, I'm Annie. I'm 36 years young and I work part time as a nurse. I am married to Greg and we have three beautiful daughters, 8, 4 and 2. Life is very busy with the girls but lots of fun too.

I am from the UK and live in a very busy city. I dream of living somewhere quiet and very green lol but until then it's the bright lights and concrete for me.

I have never been one for hobbies, not being particularly artistic or creative didn't help. Honestly, I can't sew a button and my knitting is kinda scary too. I do love to read and from an early age could be found huddled up with a book. I can read anything, poetry, sloppy stuff, fact, fiction and I am proud to say my eldest daughter takes after me with her passion for reading. I love to swim but since discovering the Pc that has gone to the back of my mind as my little addiction took hold. I really ought to take it up again for fear of middle age spread.

I would say I am quite a sociable bunny, I love to talk............ I love to party and have fun. I do like to help others but three young girlies kinda limits me. I would like to thank Katnapper for making me aware of this wonderful site. I was delighted to help out making quilt squares. I was even more delighted when Fairy Godmother encouraged me to become a Quilting Angel.

I am in awe of the work done here and look forward to being part of a fantastic team.

With hugemongous hugs

Angel Annie
